I am not the audience for Victoria’s Secret in 2025; the Blue Jays game was on last night, that was the priority. The only part of the VS show I watched, this morning, was Karol G’s performance and it was terrific.

That said, I was talking to a friend with a teenage daughter today; he watched the show… but only because the first thing his child said when she came home from school is that they needed to stream it.

She is, of course, the target consumer for the VS Pink line. And so she was the one driving the viewership in their house. And pointing out that, while watching, the show was set up on Prime to buy immediately from your phone. Now this doesn’t apply to all teens in all homes. But for those of you who were wondering – we had some comments on The Squawk – whether or not VS was still appealing, that’s just an example from my circle of friends that suggests that in certain corners, the brand is generating interest.

My issue with it, really, is that it’s not fashion. No look from that show, to me, is what I want to see on a runway. And, frankly, that also applies to the red carpet. Even Jodie Turner-Smith who arrived with Law Roach and who never misses was a flop. In my opinion the most uninteresting outfit she has ever worn. Nothing about anything to do with VS, for me, is stylish. Not even the hair.

Yesterday I posted about Bella Hadid’s hair ahead of the show wondering if that’s how she would wear it on runway and she did. It was a classic Victoria’s Secret blowout if I’ve ever seen one and, well, I hate it. Because it’s so dated. It’s so… 2005. And it completely erases her features. I’ll stop now because you’re probably tired of me dumping on this thing.

What else happened today…

While we’re on topic of fashion, Sofia Grainge Richie has launched her fashion line, SRG. Maria has mentioned it many times before in her Celebrity Social Media column – Sofia is hugely influential with the TikTok crowd. They care, very hard, about what she wears, what she uses. So there is definitely a case to be made for her having her own label. The clothing is Sofia’s whole vibe, elevated neutrals and wardrobe basics. And it’s quiet luxury, which puts her in the same-ish category as Victoria Beckham, and that applies to the aesthetic too. Also Gwyneth Paltrow’s rebranded Gwyn. You’re about to be shocked if you hadn’t heard already but Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas broke up, supposedly. If they ever were really “together” in the first place. (Celebitchy)

Julianna Ress writes about Netflix’s Oscar thirst and their confusing strategy. (The Ringer)

This one is for our site manager, Emily. After that cameo on SNL, should Aubrey Plaza join The Hunting Wives? (Autostraddle)
