What Else?
We’re basically getting five straight months of Saoirse Ronan, no complaints, because she’s currently promoting The Outrun and then will pretty much go straight into promotion for Steve McQueen’s Blitz, which everyone has been leaving room for in the Oscar race. Early word is she’ll be campaigning for Blitz in the supporting category and in the lead category for her performance in The Outrun. The Academy loves Saoirse – will she be a double nominee? Either way, it’s going to be a lot of outfits. And I really, really love this one on her: plaid, layered but with structure, and a drop waist. I just wish she’d chosen a different shoe. Luke Bryan was asked a question about Beyoncé’s CMA snub and as Dustin Rowles writes here, his answer is dumbassery on multiple levels. My mind though goes to Andy Cohen because as an interviewer, you don’t have to just agree with your subject, or say “I see what you mean”; there is room to challenge, and Andy has the clout to challenge. Luke Bryan can’t get Andy fired. (Pajiba)
Speaking of Beyoncé, COWBOY CARTER has been submitted in the country category at the Grammys. The album is of course also eligible in the Album of the Year category which, remember, she has never won. (Hollywood Unlocked)
I saw these photos and thought to myself – look, there’s Damian Lewis walking some sheep across a bridge. And then proceeded to get a history lesson. There’s also some fashion appreciation here because he’s wearing his grandfather’s coat, which is a hundred years old. Talk about lasting craftsmanship, it’s in such good condition! (Celebitchy)
Olivia Craighead assesses Travis Kelce’s acting ability. And I’ll assess the editing in this scene from Grotesquerie featuring Travis and Niecy Nash-Betts because when he gets up to walk over to her bench, his moving at a STRIDE. And the next thing you know, from a different angle, his gait is on super slow motion and, I don’t know, something about that disconnect made me laugh out loud, in a good way. Because it was already comedy, I was already watching with my hands over my face. In support! No shade! As Olivia says, he amateur-ness is endearing on screen. But, like, let’s not pretend it’s not amateur, you know? At least he has an excuse for it since this isn’t his day job. I don’t know what the editor’s excuse is. (The Cut)
