Yesterday morning Gwyneth Paltrow was in monochrome pink. Last night for an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, it was orange, the colour of Marty Supreme.

We’ve seen Timothée all about the orange during the press tour – but, if memory serves, this is GP’s first full orange look… and… well… ugh…she is supreme.

This is a tracksuit, but it’s not THE tracksuit. It is more elevated tracksuit, the satin looks expensive, naturally, since we’re talking about one of the first ladies of quiet luxury. And I know the colour isn’t quiet, but it definitely reads luxury. This is Lacoste, not yet available, and a little bit of a throwback to one of her most classic looks. The Royal Tenenbaums, and that polo dress, remember? It was striped and Lacoste and iconic and she actually partnered with Lacoste a few years ago for a collection that was based on her character, the impossibly disaffected Margot Tenenbaum.

The tracksuit on Gwyneth is tailored to perfection. You can see how great it looks in movement when she walks out on stage in this video. I’m surprised, however, that she didn’t have a better coat option to wear on top of it – see the photos attached to this post. GP in a short bomber jacket that really doesn’t work with the set. It’s not really like her.

What is very much like her is that during the interview with Seth, she’s asked about the Goop gift guide, and she didn’t bother to remember the name of the bundle. She knows that there are two products in the package, but no one told her or she didn’t ask what they were calling the set.

Start at the 4:15 mark and you’ll see what I mean. This is the opposite of Show Your Work and know your business and I find it enraging because most female entrepreneurs would be overprepared for their moment to sell their goods. And here’s GP doing the least.

You know who never does the least? Jennifer Lopez. And I bring up JLo because both GP and JLo were part of the LA Times’s The Envelope actress roundtable. I’m still making my way through the full interview but GP and JLo have gossip history, double. First… that legendary Movieline interview.

It was 1998, and it will follow JLo forever – unfortunately for her, no doubt. She was young and she ran her mouth. And, frankly, it has been good for gossip ever since. Here’s what she said about Gwyneth:

“Tell me what she's been in? I swear to God, I don't remember anything she was in. Some people get hot by association. I heard more about her and Brad Pitt than I ever heard about her work."

Gwyneth, at the time, was dating Ben Affleck. She won the Oscar the following year. And then three years after that, JLo and Ben met and got engaged. Now it’s 2025, GP and JLo are at the same roundtable and Gwyneth is telling JLo how great she is in Kiss of the Spider Woman while JLo is visibly appreciative. You can watch that here. What do you think they talked about when the cameras weren’t rolling?
