If we’re talking about Gwyneth Paltrow in pink, the image that immediately comes up is from the Oscars in 1999 when she won Best Actress for her performance in Shakespeare in Love wearing a custom pink Ralph Lauren dress inspired by Grace Kelly. 

 

Gwyneth is currently promoting Marty Supreme, in a much more conventional manner than the film’s lead, Timothée Chalamet. She’s not doing viral Zoom calls – although I imagine that a Goop marketing call might kinda go like Timmy’s haha – or sending orange blimps in the air, or dressing in matching orange with her husband, Brad Falchuk. 

Her date for the premiere was her son, Moses. Who also shows up in her GRWM video from the event. 

Note that she makes a point here of namechecking Jacob Elordi. She was the envy of all the mom group chats when those photos of her making out with Timmy went viral. And now she’s hanging out with another actor who makes the girls crazy. Gwyneth Paltrow, smug to the end. 

 

Back to the pink, though – here’s Gwyneth leaving today after an appearance in monochrome pink Calvin Klein and…well… she’s annoying AF but she also looks really f-cking good in this set. The blouse is gorgeous, I love how the pants are cuffed, and finishing it off with that coral-toned belt and those beautiful pale pink pumps with the asymmetrical toe is, ugh, chef’s kiss. 

But is it also strategic? She must know the moment in pop culture history that this outfit evokes, even though she’d claim she doesn’t. And she is still campaigning for another Oscar nomination. Her chances at a Best Supporting Actress nomination at this point are slim, but they’re also not dead. And you can’t count out someone as well-connected as Gwyneth, ever. 

 

And GP served more than just pink this morning. She actually arrived at GMA in a grey suit, without an undershirt that actually sits better than I expected. Because when it first saw it on her, I thought it was an outfit that’s better photographed standing. She did the sit test for sure though, as it still looks great when she’s on the couch. Gwyneth has been at this a long time, she would have been prepared for the angles and the way garments fall and bunch in various positions which, sometimes, even famous people don’t think enough about for their appearances.
