What’s on the playlist?

Julia Roberts was in Idaho for Emma Roberts’s wedding the other day and has since been seen a few times in New York, which is also where she was before the wedding. It’s been weeks, actually. She has a home there but we don’t typically associate Julia with NYC as she spends most of her time in LA … but now that all three of her kids are in university in different parts of the US and abroad, she might be moving around a lot more.

She’s been moving around New York relatively low-key, like today in New York in jeans and a rugby shirt (what did I tell you about rugby shirts back in the spring!) with her headphones on. Curious about her playlist – what does Julia Roberts listen to when she’s walking around the city? The safest guess would be Dave Matthews Band. She’s probably their most famous fan – two years ago she actually inducted them into the Rock Hall. Then again, she told Stephen Colbert a couple of years ago that if she had to listen to just one song for the rest of her life it would be Supertramp’s “Oh Darling”. Our girl likes the classic rock. Or maybe she’s just listening to a podcast.

In other Julia news, they were originally expected to start shooting Oceans 14 soon. Like in the fall. But Matt Damon recently said that they were having a hard time coordinating all those schedules. Which is hilarious coming from him right now because he said this on The Odyssey press tour and, like, that’s also a high-profile ensemble cast. Apparently the script is done though, and they were already location scouting months ago so as soon as they can figure out how to get Brad Pitt there. This is just conjecture but if we had to blame someone, I choose him.

What else happened today…

I know Julianne Hough’s outfit here is a LOT, but having screened a few episodes of The Shards, it really works with this show. Jordan Roth would probably approve. (Go Fug Yourself)

On the one hand, we’re all trying to Gossip Genie Keke Palmer and Sean Evans to be a real couple. On the other hand, maybe don’t walk up to her out of nowhere and ask her point blank. Then again, I appreciate that Keke understands the public investment. (Pajiba)

This is for all of us who watch Singles Inferno – one of the most controversial and polarising cast members is now dating another cast member but not the one he initially left the island with and they’ve since gone public with their relationship, but the theory is that they only went public because he was on another reality show with the girl he did leave the island with and his current and real girlfriend got jealous. Last week at The Squawk, I wrote briefly about seeing BTS in Paris. It was my first time seeing all seven of them in concert. And the only word I could think of to describe what it was like to be with almost 90,000 other ARMYs was… UN-lonely. It is the most welcoming space. And it is a space where new friendships are made all the time. One of the enduring features of a BTS concert is the freebie exchange, and my own friend Ann Pornel came to Paris with her own freebies that she passed around that night. I came home with several bracelets and so many stickers and photo cards. Ann spent days working on her freebies. The freebies she received in return were also made with attention and care and effort and time. And when you have that much goodwill, of course a community will naturally flourish.
