Dear Gossips,
I can’t be alone in this – like still not over Zendaya’s makeup in London last night for the final Spider-Man: Brand New Day red carpet. As I said in my post yesterday, how much more of this can we handle? It’s been relentless, it’s been intoxicating, it’s been excessive and not enough … and it’s not over.
Because, as Law shared afterwards, there’s always a second dress. And this one is inspired by the character, F-CK ME UP.
It’s like a swimsuit that became a cocktail dress. Can these two please f-cking stop?!
Let’s go back to the makeup, and give some love to the other members of Zendaya’s glam squad. Ernesto Casillas is her makeup artist, he also works a lot with Jennifer Lopez, and what I love about his work with Zendaya especially is that there’s such a range, such a variety, so that every look has a chance to pop because it’s playing off the look that came before. This week really highlighted this.
At the LA premiere, they went for dark and extreme. The goal here was never to look conventionally pretty because the dress called for something more dramatic, which is why Ernesto and Ursula Stephen, her hair stylist, collaborated on such provocative face and hair combination. Not for everyone, but they were going for a specific energy, with a muse who’s always willing to play.
But when you leave a taste like that in our mouths, it’s that much more impactful when the next look is so dreamy and ethereal and light.
It’s like she’s walking around in real life with a soft blur filter. I mean, I get it, the canvas these artists are working with is first class, but the technique has to be there too with these products, being able to execute the vision. Our makeup artist, Shaby, and I have been horny about this all morning, we can’t stop talking about it. And by the way, the key to the blur lip like this is application with a brush, you can’t go straight onto the lip with the lipstick.
