Drinks on Margot
Margot Robbie was photographed in London this week with her husband Tom Ackerley having lunch with a group of friends at a restaurant called Bondi Green. She’s Australian, the restaurant is Aussie inspired, so I’m guessing this was some friendly (as in free) promo for the establishment. Apparently it was drinks on her for everyone there when she was leaving.
Margot looks good – tanned, relaxed, healthy, happy. She’s had some time off since wrapping on Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights although we’ll probably start to see some press from her ahead of the release of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey in the fall, directed by Kogonada. Sarah covered the film’s trailer release and it looks good, and weepy, but like her I’m baffled about the September 19th premiere date. I’ve also been expecting it to show up on the festival lists from Venice and Toronto but so far, nothing. At least not that I’ve seen. If you have, send it over and we’ll update this post.
TIFF is still making announcements though, as recently as yesterday, so maybe this will be a late addition? Kogonada + TIFF is a great matchup, I really, really hope the film comes here. I really, really hope Sarah runs into Colin Farrell at a screening and loses her sh-t.
What else happened today…
Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas commute via helicopter together all over London, with her dogs. And now they’re on a yacht holiday in Menorca. They’re wearing matching sun hats. This is not beating the allegations. And I don’t want them to. Whatever this is, as I’ve been saying, it’s good for gossip. (Hello)
The big viral story today is about Andy Byron, the tech CEO and billionaire who was caught on Coldplay-cam loving up a woman who is not his wife. Chris Martin narrated the whole situation and pretty much read it exactly right. (Pajiba)
My favourite read of the day: Emma Rosenblum’s piece on “visiting day”, which is about rich parents visiting their kids at sleepaway camp and how this has become a competitive influencer activity, LOL. (The Cut)
Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt are expecting their first child. What kind of baby names do you think Pete favours? Weird and offbeat or conventional? (Celebitchy)
Here are Shohei Ohtani and his wife Mamiko on the MLB All-Star Game red carpet. Agree with the Fug Girls that it would have been great to see them with their dog, Dekopin aka Decoy. It’s been almost a year since Dekopin ran in the first pitch and went viral and apparently he’s learned some new tricks and could be back this year for a sequel. (Go Fug Yourself)
Speaking of Shohei, his family story went viral recently because even though he has that huge $700 million deal, his parents don’t want his money and still work and live modestly. Definitely not what my ma would do.
