I’ll tell you this right now, six months ahead, and I’m confident I won’t change my mind: I will love the sh-t out of The Devil Wears Prada 2. Even if some people think it’s sh-t, there is no way I will hate it. I am not genetically capable of hating it. My DNA is predisposed to be obsessed with it, and will need to feed on it, over and over again. There is a very good chance I’ll be seeing this in theatres at least three times, either by myself or with different friend groups.

And the new teaser that just dropped today confirms all of the above. I LOVE EVERYTHING!

Runway, in the book/movie, of course is a proxy for Vogue. Miranda Priestly presides over Runway. Watching her walk to the beat of “Vogue” is on the nose…but it’s exactly the right decision to play over that strut. In devilish red shoes, just like the movie poster, my guess is Valentino rock studs, Miranda stalks through the office into the elevator…

And Andy Sachs is now allowed to ride with her.

Meryl Streep’s delivery of that line, “took you long enough”, is perfect, the comfort of hearing the judgy crusty voice of an old neighbour you haven’t seen in a while. But it’s Anne Hathaway’s infectious grin at the end that brings it all home. It’s a grin that feels like a wink, a wink that works for the story, considering how far Miranda and Andy have come, but also a wink to the audience knowing how long we’ve been waiting, and the anticipation of it. The expectation of it.

As if she’s saying… don’t worry, we know, and we will serve, will we slay. This is the only possible outcome.

I’ll be watching this over and over until they give us another trailer. The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes out May 1, 2026. And three days later it’ll be the Met Gala. The theme for the Met Gala has not yet been announced. But, perhaps, will Meryl and Annie have something to do with it?
