Nikki Glaser and Judd Apatow are working together on a rom-com and it got me thinking about Judd’s partnerships over the years, particularly for his most successful films. Katherine Heigl, Amy Schumer, and his wife Leslie Mann come to mind, as does Catherine Keener in The 40-year-old Virgin (the only non-blonde on the list). He definitely has a casting type.
Around 2010-2011 there were a bunch of thinkpieces about how Judd writes leading women and he hasn’t directed a female-led film since 2015’s Trainwreck. Will this movie will bump Nikki Glaser’s profile from comedian to movie star the same way it did for Amy Schumer?
Yesterday Lainey wrote about a hosting book co-authored by Brie Larson and I agree, it looks fun. It’s busy and even a little messy, which is what a good party should be.
We’ve seen enough “good taste” (candles, flowers, cream tablecloths). We want (degradable) balloons and paper napkins and foldable chairs you bring up from the basement. We also need to add Brie to the Significant Haircuts of 2025 list.
Obsessed with Stella Banderas’s Rodarte wedding dress. The black bouquet! It is, as she said, slightly goth. ¡HOLA! has the exclusive photos and I think this will be one of those weddings that become very popular on Pinterest boards.
I was about to hit send on this when I went to check on Lainey because I knew she would love this Alicia Silverstone dress as much as I do. And you know what confirms it? The comments are full of people who don’t get it. It’s Carolina Herrera and it is a moment.
Read the caption for details on Bella Hadid responding to comments asking why she looked “off” at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I thought she looked fine, it’s not the models, it’s the show that is weird. But Bella does point out that she got her period, which is something I’ve wondered about for models, particularly those doing lingerie. What’s the protocol? Because we know how unpredictable flows can be and there’s nowhere to hide in this. I think it was Kate Winslet who said that you know if an actress has her period on the red carpet because more often than not, they opt for black.
