It’s a bit of a misnomer, the “low-key wedding” descriptor. There is, I think, a trend though. But first, Zoe Kravitz was seen with her ma Lisa Bonet in New York on Sunday. The Big Little Lies Season 2 premiere is happening there on Wednesday. She will for sure be there, along with Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and other cast members. They’ve already been doing press ahead of the first episode on HBO on June 9.
Will Zoe walk the carpet with Karl Glusman, her husband?
Us Weekly reported last week that the two are now “legally married”. There are no other details but there’s also been no denial. Apparently there’s to be a more traditional ceremony in France some time in June, likely after she wraps up on all BLL promotion.
The American political system has been described by some as “pendulum” – extreme swings are followed by dramatic shifts in the opposite direction. Is it the same of celebrity weddings? After the two major weddings of 2018 (Prince Harry & Meghan Markle and Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra), Justin Bieber & Hailey Baldwin, Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner, and now Zoe Kravitz & Karl Glusman have all done a lower-key thing, marrying legally without a lot of fuss before what’s expected to be something more in line with what we expect a “wedding” to look like. Joe and Sophie and Zoe and Karl are supposedly having theirs in France. It’s been several months though for JB and Hailey and they still have yet to have their big wedding, as it’s been postponed at least once. Gina Rodriguez announced that she’d gotten married on Instagram with a wedding video, but there was not long advance notice of it and there’s been no magazine spread with a full editorial of it anywhere since.
Coincidence or reaction? To all the wedding excess that came before? And how long before it swings back to excess?
