My friend Traci Melchor called it Blonde on Blonde Crime on The Social today. I call it White Girl Sh-t.

You heard what Martha Stewart said about Gwyneth Paltrow?

During an interview with Porter Magazine, Martha was asked about GOOP. Her assessment:

“She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

As for Blake Lively, well, since Blake’s wedding was featured in her magazine, Martha couldn’t piss on her too hard so she let her Senior VP Kevin Sharkey do it instead:

“I don’t get the sense (Blake’s) credible. She’s enthusiastic, but she’s not credible.”

So Gwyneth gets a middle finger and Blake gets a patronising pat on the head. Meanwhile, what they’re really fighting about here is cupcakes. Who makes the better cupcake? That’s, basically, the issue.

Martha doesn’t want pretenders pretending on her territory. I get that, sure. But here’s the problem with Martha, and f-ck her for making me defend not only Gwyneth but Blake too…

I’ve never bought a Martha Stewart anything. ANYTHING. But I’ve definitely bought a GOOP something and I’d be more likely to buy a Blake Lively something if her site wasn’t so dark and hard to read. So if I’m the coveted demo, and Martha’s sh-t isn’t appealing to me, maybe credibility isn’t an issue anymore. Maybe “relevance” is the word we’re looking for. Is Martha Stewart even relevant anymore?
