The CMA Awards happened last night in Nashville. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted again. And they are GREAT at it, as comfortable as Amy Poehler and Tina Fey at the Golden Globes, and just as willing to go there. I mean, they were already taking shots at Taylor Swift even before she left country – and you know, YOU KNOW Carrie can’t pass up an opportunity to take shots at Taylor Swift. Now that she’s left country, well, that’s where they went. And it was well done.
Fair?
I love Taylor’s new album, but, yeah, totally fair. Fair because it does feel like she used the country genre as a stopover on her way to pop. Fair because that’s how a lot of people in country feel. We embraced you, we anointed you, we put you on a throne and you decided it was just a stepping stone.
But it’s a joke that comes up after the Taylor one, that has nothing to do with Taylor, that will really put your hands on your face – because you’ll laugh and then you’ll feel bad for laughing because it is mean, so mean, but not bad enough to stop laughing.
Also, as baby gender reveals go…this one was pretty good. By pretty good I mean not as annoying as usual.
Anyway, as usual, Carrie changed a million times. And, reassuringly, pregnancy hasn’t improved her style. So please enjoy this collection of sh-tty dresses. The electric blue one, in particular, is one for her greatest hits page.
