Sometimes the world gives and gives, and when you think ‘oh no world, this is too much’, the world gives you more.
Anna Kendrick will release a series of ‘autobiographical humourous essays’ in the fall of 2016. I love this for three reasons.
Number one, I think they will be great. Anna Kendrick is, as we all know, quite hilarious, but also exceedingly self-deprecating. She does not retweet a compliment but might retweet a mean tweet Jimmy Kimmel had sent her. She is unflinchingly honest in a way that’s always amusing.

So I know the book will be good. She could basically just use each of her tweets as a jumping off point.
Number two, it’s going to be published by Touchstone. This is the world, guys. It used to be that a movie star would never consider writing a book, because that was for nerds who did not have a face pretty enough for television. But I love that the media companies have gotten smart and realized that no, in fact, if their celebs are going to do it, they should do it in house where their same reps can take care of them, and reap the benefits of having a multi-hyphenate on their roster. However, this does give rise to the very real possibility that in the future, everyone will work for a multinational conglomerate called Warner-Disney.
Number three, I genuinely love the art of the autobiographical essay, and I somehow think they’re not really going to be about Hollywood that much. In fact, as soon as I read this, I immediately thought of Sloane Crosley. She has two books of humourous essays, “I Was Told There’d Be Cake” and “How Did You Get This Number” and is sort of a Tri-state female Sedaris. If you feel, like I do, that you can’t wait to hear about Kendrick’s junior high school humiliations (I don’t know, I’m just assuming) I feel strongly that Sloane will whet your appetite. And Anna, if you’re reading this, you could do worse than to emulate the Crosley.
I’ll be first in line for this book and for what will obviously be an amusing press tour of humiliation.
