Dear Gossips,

Goop, Wonder Woman, Valentino = New York

This is the photo that Gwyneth Paltrow just posted on Instagram this morning ahead of Goop’s first New York City pop-up starting next week featuring a collaboration with Valentino. It’s the first time that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have partnered with a celebrity. And, of course, it’s G. They adore her. The Valentino Goop capsule is 24 pieces, part of a larger Valentino capsule that will launch in Valentino stores in April, all of it themed around Wonder Woman. As you can see, G’s wearing one of the pieces. It’s gorgeous. As is the leather jacket. God, this jacket. It’s… not mine, unfortunately. Click here to see.

For G, it’s not just the merchandise that will make NY Goop a destination. Apparently she’s seen to it that the space itself will be a major highlight. According to the press release, the pop-up will feel “downtown, uptown with handmade custom furniture and accessories that create unexpected juxtapositions in a high-touch loft setting”. I don’t know what that means. But I’m curious enough to consider seeing if I can get away to New York before it closes for a day or two just to check it out. Which probably makes me a stupid c-nt,

Still, for all the sh-t that we throw at Gwyneth and Goop, she hasn’t folded. The Goop lifestyle brand continues to attract interest, not just from the consumer but from the tastemakers. Goop has just celebrated its 7th birthday, evolving from a newsletter into, well, all the things it is now. And part of it has to do with the fact that G has indeed been trading how much people love to throw sh-t at her. As Maria wrote last week, Gwyneth has been trolling us. But in admitting that, does it also mean that she needs us to sh-t on her as much as we need her to sh-t on? It really is a co-dependent relationship. That said, aren’t all lifestyle relationships built on co-dependency? Consider the Oprah example through that lens. Kinda makes sense, non?
