My Obsession is travelling. The Avengers: Age Of Ultron UK premiere is tomorrow at Westfield. I’m in London right now. This is not on the agenda for Tuesday night though. Am planning on touring Windsor Castle instead, then staying home with Lorella because she hasn’t seen the first movie and we can’t see the second movie until she does her homework. Ultron opens here on Friday, a week ahead of North America. So we’re going on Friday. But I had to bribe her with dimsum at Royal China first.
Here are Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson at LAX with Elizabeth Olsen presumably heading to England. Aaron’s really feeling this hat right now because he was also wearing it the other night when he and Sam went to the Florence + the Machine show – those photos are attached after the airport shots.
As expected, Aaron’s been on press lately to promote the movie. Sam’s had to talk a lot about The Issue. He’s now being asked about The Issue. You know, the age difference. Like he was barely 18 when they met and fell in love, 20 when they married, and children followed soon after. This is his response to the intrigue/criticism…or…as I call it… My Obsession:
"I don't engage with [talk about the age gap]. At an early age when I saw articles, it just f-cked me up ... What does it even f-cking matter about our age? I never noticed it when we fell in love with each other. And I don't notice it now ... We just instinctively gel ... People who know me call me Benjamin Button - they think I'm an old soul and she's a young soul."
The interview was done with The Times. And he tells the paper that he’s not that ambitious of an actor:
"I met Sam and I knew I wanted to be with her. And it got clearer, each step...I wanted kids, we had kids and I was really into that, taking time off and involving myself in the bubble of her pregnancy. Being a father has been the happiest time of my life - it's what I live for, what I love doing - I have a real reason why I'm here, I'm not as proud of my acting; it's a job that I do ... I'm grateful, but I don't live for acting.”
Like other celebrity couples, they promise not to work at the same time. Interestingly though, neither has anything lined up next just yet. She, as you know, will not be returning to direct the Fifty Shades Of Grey sequel even though most people seem impressed with her vision despite the film’s sh-tty reviews – mostly blamed on author EL James. What would you want to see her do next? Sarah suggested it a couple of weeks ago, and the Taylor-Johnsons already have an insider pass to Marvel…
Could Sam direct Captain Marvel? There’s a rumour going around that Angelina Jolie’s looking at the project. Not going to lie. If Angelina wants it, f-ck, I’m never going to say she shouldn’t have it, no matter how obsessed I am with My Obsession.
