“I got my heart broken by a bum [when I was 15]” – LOL, that was Cardi B just before introducing Olivia Rodrigo at the American Music Awards last night.

It’s just one of several quotable moments from Cardi who was, well, exactly what you would expect from Cardi. Just because she was hosting doesn’t mean she has to get all formal and stiff. I’m not sure Cardi’s even capable of formal and stiff. She certainly wasn’t stiff when she made her entrance, like a proper Vegas showgirl:

As Duana always says, one of the most important qualities to a good host is that they have to look like they’re having a good time. And Cardi looked like she was having a GREAT time. It looked like her #1 priority was to have a great time, which is why it was such a great time watching her. And her multiple outfit changes with multiple headpieces, breast plates, big shoulders, a variety of colours, and a mask – masked is how she arrived, in Schiaparelli.

From Beyoncé to Adele to Gaga to Cardi, Schiaparelli has dressed almost every female pop superstar this year.

On top of her fashion and her energy though, you know what else made Cardi so entertaining last night? Cardi, as Anastasia covered recently, is a fangirl. She’s a big deal herself – one of the biggest – but she’s still not too big to lose her sh-t over other artists. The way she fangirled Jojo Siwa was pretty adorable. And Cardi has long been a fan of BTS too. Her daughter, Kulture, is obsessed and she revealed a couple of days ago that there was talk of a collaboration, but Cardi and Offset actually met BTS two years ago and she knew what she was talking about back then about paying attention to them on Twitter and all the activity they inspire because when she tweeted about them after they did “Finesse” on Carpool Karaoke, she used the nicknames for RM and j-hope: “Joon” and “hobi”. Cardi went full ARMY every time BTS came up last night. And, in case you haven’t heard, they came up a LOT. More on BTS later.
