MC just wrote about it in his latest music lounge yesterday – Cardi B’s new song “AH HA” was all over my feed this weekend since my algorithm always responds to her and she’s been pushing it hard. Totally agree with MC when he says that it’s a pump-up track, not that I’m in the habit anymore of getting ready at a bad bitch time of the night. This old bitch mostly wants to be in bed before midnight … although it is getting to be that time of the year, soon, in early September (during TIFF), when I’m outside for days and barely home.

But “AH HA” is for Cardi at this phase of her life – she’s single, she’s successful, and the money is coming in.

Speaking of money, I posted recently about Cardi getting paid for keeping it real in that sugar-free drink ad and how funny she is, how perfectly suited she was for that commercial – or, rather, how they perfectly suited it to her.

And now there’s another brand, more cash and more comedy for Cardi. Not so much in the spot itself, she’s full of personality, no doubt, but in this case, what set me off is the caption.

“When you have a BBL”… as part of a sales pitch! And the beauty here is, I mean I wouldn’t know, but I would assume – that it’s true: when you have a BBL, indeed it might be hard to find jeans! Sorry, but this is just excellent marketing. It’s honest, it’s practical, it’s cheeky, no pun intended, it’s culturally relevant, and you could argue that it’s inclusive since… how many denim brands are actively targeting the people who have BBLs? This is not an endorsement, nobody is saying you should get a BBL, I do not have a BBL, I have a flat ass, I’m just here to appreciate the specificity.

What else happened today…

There was a Ted Lasso premiere yesterday and the cast came in couples outfits but … not the couples you’d expect? (Go Fug Yourself)

Thank you to Kayleigh Donaldson for putting this in front of me because I admittedly don’t listen much to either artist and now, I’m definitely more interested. Did Phoebe Bridgers call out Gracie Abrams? (Pajiba)

More Adam Sandler fashion quirks: he wears socks in the pool. (Celebitchy)

A few weeks ago I speculated on the possible name of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s dog. The current theory is that the dog’s name is Wendy Peffercorn, from a character in The Sandlot. All the evidence lines up, and Wendy Peffercorn definitely goes with Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey, and Benjamin Button. (Cosmopolitan)
