You can be a serious actor, and work with the best directors, and be nominated for awards, and receive rave reviews on Broadway…

And you can still be into clothes at the same time. This is what I love about Emma Stone. Emma Stone is consistently on the best dressed lists because she has great style instincts but also because she loves to play. What’s the point if you can’t play with fashion?

You want strapless? Emma Stone will give you strapless. In the form of a tricked out bodice over a pair of beautifully tailored pants and a sash wrapped around her waist and bowed in the back for added drama. It stood out from every single wedding dress we saw last night. And so much more high fashion than a white dress cut down to the belly button that’s all cleave and not much else.

But it’s also so much more.

It’s a new hair moment at the back of her head. A silver clip for no reason, only that it brings up the dazzle in her top and check out the ring game on her fingers. Subtle…but it’s there. And all together as package, there was no one else who came close…

Except for her Cabaret co-star Alan Cumming. I interviewed Cumming a few weeks ago when he was here in Toronto promoting his book. He’s gentle and sweet, so f-cking cute, and soooo f-cking elegant. The way he moves, the way he speaks, the way he dips his head when he’s looking at you, thinking at you…

And Alan Cumming too knows that there is no point if you’re not there to have some fun with it. In head to toe rich cameo with badass kicks…

My only regret is that I can’t find a photo of them together.
