The past 48 hours or so of the Kirsten Durst news cycle has been a pre-long weekend gift. We've been treated to new photos and video of Kiki and her fiancé Jesse Plemons as she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which included the public debut of their adorable 15-month-old son Ennis, learned more about their pseudo-Canadian meet-cute, and she put critics and her peers on blast for not recognizing her work early or often enough within her industry. The Beguiled Is What It Is
And what it is, is a dreamily rendered impressionist drawing room drama, a psycho-sexual thriller buttoned up in a prim and proper façade. Sofia Coppola’s latest meditation on privileged femininity is an adaptation of Thomas Cullinan’s novel of the same title, and it’s a beautiful idea of a terrible time, stirringly acted and flawlessly shot. Kirsten Dunst got emotional at the world premiere of The Beguiled in Cannes last night, and shed a happy tear or two while walking the red carpet... just like she said she would minutes earlier. She’s back at the festival a year after serving on the jury, this time earning raves for work in her fourth collaboration with her friend Sofia Coppola Full Story
