Rachel McAdams will be at the Oscars on Sunday as a presenter and as a nominee – her first for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Spotlight. As previously noted, she won’t win. For her, the nomination really is the victory. Over the last year and a half, she’s been showing the industry what she can be, what she wants to be. It’s the most ambition we’ve seen from her. And it’s beautiful.
Rachel is already in LA for Oscar week, making the most of the networking opportunities. On Wednesday she was at a dinner for Spotlight seated next to Graydon Carter. Rachel McAdams has never covered Vanity Fair, at least not on her own. I predict that will change, this year.
I also predict that she’ll be my Best Dressed on Sunday night. Or that Duana and I will be fighting over her because we each get a pick for best and worst. Look at her in this blue David Koma. I don’t love the colour and I’m not sure about the material but I love the choices she’s been making, I love that she’s taken her style options this award season to the next level. Which is why I’m hoping that she’ll show up on the red carpet at the Oscars in a dress with imagination, that’s playful, maybe even a little edgy. This is the benefit of not being the frontrunner. You don’t have to pick a safe dress. Brie Larson can be safe. Rachel can be best.
I’m also told she has the Burberry bag that’s one of the prizes in our Red Carpet Contest. Have I mentioned I have great taste?
