Brad Pitt was making headlines exactly a year ago this week for a few reasons. First, he was the frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood which he would go on to win. But also, he was seen at Jennifer Aniston’s holiday party, among the first to arrive and one of the last two leave. At the time, in that post I just linked to, I wondered whether or not they were slow-rolling some kind of reconciliation narrative – not that I believed it, but it did become a storyline at the beginning of 2020. Because they were both expected to be on the award season circuit and, well, you know how that went.
Here’s one of the most talked-about celebrity photos of 2020, taken backstage at the SAG Awards in January:
I know it may not be easy to remember the reaction to this because of all the f-cksh-t we’ve had to process in the months that followed but I’m telling you, these images set off a meltdown and a renewed thirst for the two to get back together.
And then it went quiet on the Brad front, until summer, when Angelina Jolie filed a court request to have the private judge presiding over their divorce disqualified, alleging a conflict of interest. Two weeks after that, Brad was photographed at an airport in France with German model, Nicole Poturalski ...
Coincidence or conspiracy?
Somehow the paps just happened to be hanging out on the off-chance that Brad would turn up with a woman, taking her to Chateau Miraval, where he and Angelina were married, conveniently the week they were actually married six years prior.
After that, though, the headlines became about how Nicole was supposedly in an open marriage with an older German millionaire. Not exactly the look that Brad likes to maintain for the MiniVan Majority. So we’re ending the year where we started – Brad is single and he’s still not back together with Jen and my New Year’s gossip resolution is for everyone, collectively, to let this go.
As for the latest on Brad, according to Us Weekly he’ll see his three youngest children, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne, on Christmas Day. Brad and Angelina have six children. The older kids were not included in Us Weekly’s report which, I guess, means that there are no plans for him to be with them as, presumably, they are old enough to decide what they want to do for the holidays.
Us’s source also says that Angelina has become “more prickly” this year because of COVID-19 f-cking sh-t up…which… aren’t we all?!?
“Prickly” here is dog whistle coding for “when women are c-nts” and “difficult” and generally not letting THE MAN live his best life because she has one of her own. How dare she.
