Just gonna go ahead and pat myself on the back for this one…
The other day, in my post about Angelina Jolie at the London premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, where she wore the best dress she’s ever worn, I wrote that this press tour has felt like a reclamation, that Angie’s been like, “hey what’s up hello”, I’m taking back my throne. It’s been sitting empty for too long.
Then she steps out for the photo call literally wearing a crown.
A hair accessory is a mood. Like there’s nothing accidental about it. A hair accessory is probably one of the most deliberate, if not the most deliberate, fashion statements. So if you’re still in denial or doubt about the energy that Angelina’s been living lately, this headband, a spiked headband, should drive it home. She is FEELING it. She is stepping back into it. I like to imagine her getting out of bed every day, feet firmly planted, lifting her arms on either side, head thrown back, like she’s raising the earth.
As we’ve seen, Angelina’s children have joined her at several points during this Maleficent press tour. Maddox was with her in Tokyo, flying over from South Korea where he attends university. Zahara and Shiloh were with her in Rome and again in London, along with Vivienne and Knox. The kids show up for their mother. And it’s been hard to ignore that they did not do the same for their father, who wrapped two press tours of his own recently. They actually haven’t been seen in public with him now in over three years.
Which is perhaps why we got a story in Us Weekly yesterday about how Brad Pitt “considers his fallout with Maddox a tremendous loss”. I don’t know how much stock to put in this since Us Weekly hasn’t been reliable since around the time that World War Brange broke out, but it does speak to the fact that it’s becoming super obvious that the children are consistently and happily by her side and… well…not his. To the point where a tabloid has to explain to us why, just to make sure we don’t think badly of him. Just to make sure that if we’re mad at anyone, it should be her, because if there’s a problem in a man’s life, a woman has to be behind it.
To be fair, Us Weekly is reporting that Angelina has tried to facilitate a better relationship between Brad and Maddox but so far Maddox hasn’t been receptive. WELL YOU DIDN’T TRY HARD ENOUGH B-TCH!, is what Jolie haters will probably take away from that. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to hold for though. Especially since we’ve had timed reporting likely coming from his sources every few months or so from most of the reputable entertainment outlets, like ET, about how his priority is being a dad and how he treasures spending time with his kids. When the visuals don’t match up the story though, can we really blame Angelina for that?
