Angelina Jolie: Movie Star Mayhem
I was going to post about Angelina Jolie yesterday but I ran out of time. She was at the premiere of Maria at AFI Fest and showed up with curly hair, just like it was styled in her recent editorial for CR Fashion Book. The texture is actually a little less tight and kinky than it was in that photo shoot and a side part here instead of a middle part, and for me the middle part was better, but I do like that she tried something different for a public appearance – if not with her fashion than with her hair. There’s also a sexy bedhead vibe on the carpet at AFI that she might be playing with and I’m not mad at it.
As we’ve been saying, Angelina is a strong contender for a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance as Maria Callas. Right now, if she were to miss the cut, it would 100% be considered a snub, especially since she seems to be making so many campaign stops. In addition to AFI, she also attended a SAG screening for the film last night and participated in a Q&A.
The Screen Actors Guild is made up of actors, and the SAG Award, of course, is often seen as a precursor to the Oscars. The path to Oscar doesn’t necessarily have to go through the SAGs but the SAGS definitely give your Oscar chances a huge boost. And in front of that crowd, Angelina received a standing ovation.

So among actors, she clearly has fans. That said, not all members of SAG are Academy members who vote on the Oscars. It’ll be interesting to see how much support she has among that specific group when it comes time to fill out those ballots.
Speaking of fans though…
TMZ posted video of Angelina leaving the screening and getting swarmed by fans and autograph seekers. You can see that here. The paps are there too, it looks suffocating, she maintained her composure, of course, but you can tell she was concerned. A similar situation unfolded in September at TIFF and the thing about Angelina is that she’s a huge star, there are very few celebrities on the planet who are as recognisable as she is, and while she does move with security, it’s not on the level of Taylor Swift or Beyoncé, for example. It’s never been like that with her and it probably won’t change, certainly not during award season. But I do wonder if her bodyguards would like to make recommendations.
