Anne Hathaway can do no wrong!

It’s been hit after hit with Anne Hathaway on the style front, she is a consistent request here. Lainey posted photos of her recently looking riccchhhhhhh in a black dress, black hat and carrying a black Birkin. Yes, she is wearing the Alaia net shoes which I personally love but can’t justify (the Steve Madden dupe might just do me over). Her Birkin looks casual, it is not the highlight of the outfit - RICH.

This is what all those TikTok style trends try (and fail) to capture: cottagecore and coastal grandma and mob wife etc – that is an attempt to create a persona with a copy-and-paste style. That’s why it falls flat. You can’t assign a style to people who don’t know what they want to live in.

OK that got away from me for a minute, I’ll get back to Anne. I was asked about her hat from this post many times over and one reader noted that a Reddit style forum said this style of hat is “over” and to that I simply say, no. I rebuke it! Hats out of style, for summer? Please. This one is J. Crew and the umbra is currently in my basket because I’ve been wearing baseball caps but need more coverage. No skin care is more powerful than the literal sun.

And if we are talking about hats I must mention Rachel Seville Tashjian Wise, a brilliant style reporter at the Washington Post. She runs an invite-only newsletter called Opulent Tips (OK, yes I’m on it and very pleased with myself) and she writes so freely about fashion and style and this week, hats. Even if you aren’t very into couture or designers or even fashion, her writing is about beauty and eccentricity and inner worlds. Highly recommend!

Hacks has me in its grip

At the end of each season of Hacks, I’ve thought about how brilliant and perfect it is for both a season or series finale (not that I want it to end, but the best shows end; it’s the mediocre shows that go on and on). This season was no different and the only thing I would change is my own pacing because I gobbled it – I’m TV greedy like that.

OK so I got a request for the college campus episode, the reporter was wearing a half-zip yellow sweater. I did find it, it is the Baum Und Pferd Chizu sweater. The bad news is I only saw one online (in xxs) but the good news is that it seems like a staple as it is made in different colours so it could well be back next season. Zara made a very similar sweater but again, sold out. Keep your eyes peeled for fall, Laura!
