No idea how Taylor Swift has time to be in the studio while on tour but she’s doing frequent pap walks and her style has been a hot topic – like the shoes Lainey bought and the Free People skort. A reader wrote in looking for the sunglasses she wore in this set of photos and it’s one of her go-to brands, Stella McCartney.
These are a pretty classic Wayfarer with tortoise shell frame so there are plenty of options from different brands, too. (Thanks Kelly!)
Who knew Kerry Washington had moves! She matched Derek Hough and then some. The tie-dye pants are of course the star of the outfit – flowy, silky, tie-dye and the pattern doesn’t look cheap. Because it is not cheap! These are Frame in collaboration with Julia Sarr-Jamois and $350US at Net-a-porter. Unfortunately, these are hard to find a dupe for because of the cut, material and dye formation. Google “silk tie-dye pants” and there’s a lot of “local theatre production of Aladdin” costume-y pieces. I did find these intriguing more gradient satin pants at Mango but there’s only a few left. (Thanks Amanda!)
Idina Menzel hit up Wimbledon and you know I’m all about a sun hat. Safety first. She was sitting in the Royal Box and went with a mix of formal (the blue suit) with semi-formal (the crop top) and posh accessories. She’s wearing The Spender Hat by Lack of Color. (Thanks Mimi!)
The Barbie press junket is keeping stylists very busy because the entire cast has been serving multiple looks at each stop. Two people have asked about America Ferrera’s lace dress and it’s Ellie Saab but not a dress! It’s a top and a skirt – currently on sale.
Two quick hits for sunglasses (a crowd favourite). Emma Roberts in white frames, which are controversial. White frames can be kind of pop art chic but they can also have a douchey vibe. My personal style take is that white frames can be pulled off (with a shape like cat eye or round, white is the cooler choice most times!) but not with a wayfarer shape. That’s when you veer into “ask me where I was January 6th” territory.
Emma is wearing Lanvin, a brand that - in my amateur opinion!!!! - has not culturally recovered from firing Alber Elbaz. He was a genius talent and he sadly passed away from COVID (just as he was launching his own line). Lanvin has grown its profits but continues to go through designers (this is the latest from Vogue). But clearly this is part of the model – drive up profits and cut back on the celebrity relationships.
Another pair of sunglasses: JLo talking about why she promotes booze in her go-to Chloe sunglasses that are sold out.
