As Seen On Social Media: The Blake Lively effect and Liam Gallagher, fall influencer?
Day-to-day Blake
We’ve talked and talked about Blake Lively and the “what does it all mean” It Ends With Us drama and one thing that probably didn’t get the attention she was hoping for was her very considered wardrobe for the press tour. It was so… floral …but nothing really came of it, right? Not like Barbie, not even close. If people start wearing laser-cut jeans like this, I will definitely give her credit but so far, I haven’t seen a pair out in the wild.
And what does it say about Blake that I received multiple requests – maybe one of the most requested looks ever – that were buffered with “I really don’t like her all that much” or “I don’t typically care for her style” explanations? That to me says a lot about where she stands right now. The outfit in question is this sweater and blazer seen here. This is what I have: the sweater is the Barrie Poppy cashmere cotton top (it’s over $1000, ouch).
The blazer is much tricker – it took me a whole afternoon to decide if it’s suede or corduroy or maybe even chambray! I’ve decided it’s corduroy and very likely from this Bruno Cucinelli jacket that is part of a suit. A blue blazer is a very specific thing and so far, I’ve come up short on dupes. The key here is the way it drapes; it doesn’t seem stiff at all, it’s more of a jacket than a blazer. This piece on Etsy is the closest I’ve found.
Liam: Fall Girlie
Liam Gallagher’s love of parkas is well-documented: he wears them, he talks about them, he’s blown away by his own collection. This reply is to a person asking if he wears pajamas:
I don’t wear that nonsense I get up and immediately put on my parka walk round the house in my parka and socks
— Liam Gallagher (@liamgallagher) August 25, 2024
And the thing is, the bastard wears them well and he knows. Someone asked me where he gets his parkas and the question should be, where doesn’t he? He’s a collector. Right now he’s doing a collaboration with Stone Island, if you want the official look.
He’s previously collaborated with C.P. Company and wore its PiUM style for the reunion announcement.
He’s British, so obviously Barbour; he’s also a fan of Engineered Garments, Canada Goose and Pretty Green. For some history, check out @lgwears on Instagram.
Here he is, enjoying a beautiful spring day in parka.
