It Ends With Us has gradually faded from the headlines, as most stories do. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will probably be quiet for a minute.
But you know what’s interesting about Blake’s hair line? It hasn’t posted on the grid since August 6 – a full month as of today. It’s been nearly a month on TikTok as well. That’s very strange for a new brand. Yes the Instagram Stories are still going up but considering the splashy and highly coordinated launch, it just seems so quiet now.
No one was expecting Blink Twice to topple a superhero movie; it cost $20 million to make, not a crazy budget considering the talent roster. The reviews (like Sarah’s) are mostly positive, particularly for first-time director Zoe Kravitz. And no on-set drama here. I like how Channing refers to us, the reader, as bro in his caption. He’s like a tween Twitch streamer in a movie star body.
Yesterday in What Else?, Lainey posted about Katy Perry’s never-ending album promo. This now includes an Erewhon smoothie, with proceeds going to The Firework Foundation. There are a few celebrities with these bougie smoothies (Hailey Bieber’s is probably the most “famous”), which is emblematic of a larger issue with the album promo.
It feels like a paint-by-numbers public relations strategy. She’s hitting all of the usual spots, like Call Her Daddy, but nothing is uniquely Katy’s.
How else could I end this Friday but with the Gallagher brothers, who have warmed our hearts with a reunion. (If they complete these shows it will be a small miracle.)
