Kevin Smith was on The View earlier this week and, of course people keep asking him about being at Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s wedding. Somehow Kevin keeps coming up with new things to tell us. Here’s the latest, via Page Six:

“He’s one of my favorite writers on the planet,” the “Clerks” producer noted during a guest appearance on Tuesday’s episode of “The View.” “He wrote his vows — they [both] wrote their vows, but he wrote a big speech that he read to her at the wedding, which was breathtaking.”

Smith, 52, detailed that one of his favorite things about the “Batman” actor is that “he’s his own biggest fan, so he wrote like a 12-page speech.”

There’s a lot to unpack here so let’s start with the 12-page speech. Because as I’ve said a few times now, Ben’s writing is JLo’s kink. That’s how he wooed her back after all these years. He emailed her love letters, she’s always gushing about his writing. So those 12 pages up at the altar there, she’d be all over that.

And, clearly, Kevin was all over it too because this is big praise, calling Ben “one of my favourite writers on the planet”.

But also, Ben was all over it himself – what cracks me up the most here is Kevin saying that Ben is “his own biggest fan”, LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

You know how some people thought it was cringey, the song JLo sang and danced for Ben at the reception? A 12-page wedding speech is Ben’s equivalent. That’s the gesture from him that matches hers. It’s the corny but complementary perfection of Bennifer.

Here’s Ben dropping his son off at school this morning in LA.
