Blake Lively was named to the TIME100 this year, with civil rights lawyer writing her endorsement. This, though, is really Blake’s only win of the year which is all the more reason she and Ryan Reynolds, along with her mother Elaine, stepped out last night for the TIME100 gala. When there hasn’t been much to celebrate, you celebrate when you can.
Blake is wearing Zuhair Murad. It’s a good choice for this particular event. We’re not breaking fashion trends at the TIME100, it’s about as classic formal as it comes, and the dusty rose here is slightly unusual so this is serviceable and inoffensive though I think the turquoise jewels are bit of overkill. Earrings great, but earrings and ring and bracelet reminds me of that style quote: before you leave the house take off one accessory. Also, for those of us who can remember, and were there, turquoise accessories always remind me of Cameron Diaz.
While Blake made the TIME list, Ryan’s position on another list came up for me today. As I referenced in this morning’s site open, Matthew Belloni’s latest Puck newsletter is all about movie star rankings compiled by the National Research Group which surveys 3000 people aged 12-74 about which stars they would most likely go to the theatre to watch. The poll is updated every six months.
Ryan Reynolds was ranked #1 the last time the study was conducted, right after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Makes sense. This time, though, I mean he’s still up there, in the top five, but he’s dropped from #1 to #5. Pretty sure I don’t have to tell you what’s gone down over the last six months and what the effect has been.
Interestingly, though, when you take all age groups out of the survey and leave only Gen Z, Ryan was #1 six months ago, and is now #2, not as significant of a drop.
Still, as noted above, it’s been more Ls than Ws on the chart for both Blake and Ryan, although he’s hoping for a huge W this weekend. I posted about this a couple of weeks ago when Wrexham F.C. ensured that they held their destiny in their own hands – and it comes down to their match tomorrow at home against Charlton. If they win, they will secure second place in League One and go on to automatic promotion to the Championship (the second highest tier), which would be the club’s third in three years, a record. No team has ever done this before in English football. Wonder if Ryan and Rob McElhenney will be in Wales this weekend?
