Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk were seen at the airport in New York, presumably heading to London for the BAFTAs where Coop’s going in with several nominations and could pick up his first win of the season. The BAFTAs can be a good indication of how the Oscars might swing since many are crossover members. In a race this tight, it’s going to be very interesting to see what the BAFTAs might tell us about how the Academy might be voting.
Bradley at the BAFTAs means that, no, he won’t be doing a “Shallow” duet with Lady Gaga at the Grammys on Sunday. “Shallow” is up for four Grammys, including Song of the Year and Record of the year and she’s scheduled to perform it on the broadcast. She’ll be in the front row next to Mark Ronson and a seat over from Katy Perry. I was wrong. I totally thought she’d choose the BAFTAs over the Grammys but, at the same time, I never considered that the Grammys, and winning at the Grammys, might better her chances at Oscar, to keep her front and centre and top of mind for Academy voters who begin voting for the Oscars two days after the Grammys and if Gaga gets a lot of air time there, more airtime than the BAFTAs get in general, it could help.
So Ally and Jackson will be at separate award shows. A note about the BAFTAs – like it is in LA during Oscar week, the BAFTAs bring out the London entertainment scene in its own way. Parties every night, networking, catching up with people. Suki Waterhouse is an actor now. She’s part of that scene. I wonder if she’s in town with Robert Pattinson. I wonder if Coop and Irina and Suki and RP will show up at the same event.
