Intro for April 21, 2026
Dear Gossips,
As MC mentioned in his post yesterday about Madonna’s appearance at Coachella this past weekend with Sabrina Carpenter, she was there to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Confessions and also hype the arrival of Confessions 2, so she wore her own pieces from that era for this new one.
Popstars like Madonna meticulously catalogue their clothes, accessories, props, notes, photos, and more. For example, in her documentary, I Am: Céline Dion, Céline brought us into the warehouse where many of her costumes are stored. And Madonna has given us a glimpse into her archive before, on Instagram, though that video has since been scrubbed from the grid. Now a few of the pieces that were taken out of the vault and should have been returned have been swiped from her possession. Madonna broke the news herself on IG stories – the pieces she wore at Coachella are missing, and she’s appealing for their return.

She also posted a collage of what the items look like.

“They are part of my history”, and they are part of pop culture history. So much of Madonna’s clothing is museum-worthy, she could probably have a museum built in her honour, not unlike Elvis Presley and Graceland. When I went to Graceland, I spent an embarrassingly long time in the hall of jumpsuits, poring over every detail – and the same would happen if Madonna ever did the same. So it’s not hyperbolic to say that the pieces that have been misplaced or stolen are treasures.
Interesting that she’s revealed it publicly, 48 hours after the performance, presumably after an exhaustive search, tracking back her steps. She would have been in a secure area at the festival, it’s not like just anyone could have had access to her, or her environment. Her team would have been assigned several trailers, and since those show clothes are so valuable, she probably changed out of them as soon as possible, with a staff member responsible for making sure they were looked after – plus festival security protecting the area so that no randoms could come in and out and take sh-t. So now, on top of the f-cking KitKat robbery, we need to CSI Madonna’s Confessions outfit(s)? Can TMZ stop rummaging through private celebrity health records and dig into this instead?
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
