When Justin and Hailey Bieber are papped, the large majority of the time it’s in LA. This is the first time they’ve been spotted in NYC since last summer. And before last summer, it had been almost a year in between.
The Biebers spent the early part of the month in Aspen where JB was sharing photos of himself working on music. Then there was that silly mess about him unfollowing and refollowing Hailey on IG. They returned to LA shortly after that and now they’ve turned up in NYC, presumably because Hailey has some business there to do with Rhode? The last two times they were photographed there it was for Rhode. But even though they travelled together, likely with their baby, that hasn’t stopped the speculation about their marriage since they haven’t yet been shot together. And of course the expression on his face.
JB has been famous for a long, long time. Over half his life, and he’s 30 now. I just posted earlier today about Harris Dickinson’s cover profile in The Hollywood Reporter. Harris is 28 and you know who comes up in that interview? Justin Bieber. Harris apparently “went through a phase of idolizing early Justin Bieber” – which makes sense because when Harris was a tween, JB was YouTube’s whole sh-t. And I say this because a lot of people over the age of 35 don’t really appreciate that for an entire generation, for most people under 30, JB is their Michael Jackson. I’m not saying they are equal in talent. I am NOT saying this. I’m talking about the parasocial relationship, I’m talking about the most significant idol for a specific age group growing up online. I’m talking about what that does to someone who was just a teenager himself when it started. It is well known that he has struggled, that he was ill-prepared for what would become his life…
So it’s f-cking crazy to me that anyone would see pictures of him scowling in the face of a wall of paparazzi from whom he’s been trying to run for the last 15 years and think…oh, it’s because he and his wife are having problems?!?! Seriously?!
Can we instead talk about the outfits? Hailey’s fashion vibe for the last several months has been menswear. This is very Diane Keaton coded, I love it. As for JB… I mean it’s always going to be a little sloppy because this is a man who dresses for the height he wishes he was but not the height he actually is. Still, those look like very high quality pants.
