Cardi B performed the other night in Chicago and during the song “Motorsport”, she changed one of the lines to update her relationship status:
The original lyric is "I get up set off. I turn Offset on. I told him the other day. Man, we should sell that porn”.
The modified lyric became “I get up set off. I turn Offset on. I told him the other day, yeah, we gon' get a divorce!”
And then Offset posted this on Twitter…
FUCK YALL I MISS CARDI
— OFFSET (@OffsetYRN) December 9, 2018
…prompting people to point out online that that’s one of her lyrics from “I Like It”…
I like texts from my exes when they want a second chance
…and wondering whether or not all of this is for publicity. So she went on Instagram to shut down reports that she and Offset were only together for publicity. One of her rebuttals was that she got pregnant just as her career was exploding and it could have stopped her ascent. Questioning the legitimacy of their situation and subsequent non-situation, to me, is absurd. Questioning whether or not she’ll take him back, however, well, that’s definitely a conversation.
I don’t think this is the end of Cardi and Offset. This one tweet might not be enough but if he’s tweeting openly, imagine what kind of a campaign he’s waging behind the scenes to get her back. We all have friends, or we’ve been the friend, in the breakup that needs several breaks before it sticks. I’m not convinced this time it’s going to stick. If and when it doesn’t stick, the get-back-together is going to be intense. It’s going to be “this time it’s for real and forever”. Until, you know, it’s not.
