Lil Nas X is doing so well! Great to see him again.
I’ve had plenty of smoke for the women in Hollywood taking up for AI, including Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow, so it’s only fair that Martin Scorsese gets the same attention. I wonder what his longtime collaborators, like editor Thelma Schoonmaker, think about this.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is filming exterior shots and there are huge crowds gathering to try to catch a glimpse of the actors. Maybe it’s because my knees crack when I walk up a flight of stairs but filming is not a concert, it’s not a spectator performance. It requires controlled chaos. I understand stopping to gawk at a set for a few minutes but camping out all day? This happened a lot in Vancouver when 50 Shades of Grey was being filmed.
Socialite Amy Griffin is countersuing a woman who claims that Amy stole her story about being sexually abused by a teacher to write her bestselling, celebrity-hyped memoir. However, Amy is NOT suing the New York Times, which published the story. Considering the NYT hasn’t lost a defamation case in decades (and the last loss was overturned on appeal) and regularly defends itself against powerful and wealthy people, Amy instead chose to funnel her immense resources into suing one person. If you are interested, I’d highly recommend reading the piece in the Times, it is diligently researched and includes ample space for Amy’s team to respond to Jane Doe. I read it and Jane Doe’s account is chilling because it is clear, specific, and reliable; she had spoken to multiple people over the years about the abuse. Her name is now public because of Amy’s lawsuit.

Anna Faris is doing the rounds for Scary Movie and her exit from Mom came up on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and it was a click for me. Acting is a transient business but leaving a hit sitcom, which pays a lot and has a fairly easy schedule, is usually prompted by something. She didn’t give up much except to say she lost focus and a lot happened in those seven years. It’s not The Good Wife-level mystery but I’m still curious.
