If you missed it yesterday, Maria’s on holiday so I’m subbing in this week…
Did you watch Serena’s match last night? I was a mess. And she was feeling the moment too at the start of the match, because it took her a few games to shake off the nerves. After all, it could have been the very last time. It didn’t end up being that but they prepared for it, with the presentation that happened afterwards and all.
To be honest, I was hesitant about posting this because I don’t want to jinx her. As she said in her Vogue September issue, she knows everyone has a fantasy about how this should end. But even she says it might not be realistic and it doesn’t change the fact that she is the Greatest Of All Time. Which is why she came out in glitter and stars and that skirt that looked like a royal robe and … let’s enjoy these moments, because she’s given so much, well beyond the sport.

Lewis Hamilton has given so much too, well beyond the sport. This weekend at Spa was… scary. That crash was scary. But Lewis just posted on Instagram, with grace, as usual. And one of the shots in his carousel has “Fernando’s” name on it so obviously he’s not blaming anyone. Because that’s just how classy he is. Unlike, um, some other champions. Clearly I’m not classy either.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan was back at home this weekend for Fan Expo Canada and she did as you do when you’re at Fan Expo: cosplay. Aren’t they working on a Super Mario movie? Have they cast Princess Peach yet? Also… I finished season three of Never Have I Ever, like, FAST. And one of my favourite conversations right now is whether or not it’s the best season yet. Season two was pretty f-cking great too. It keeps getting better and better and whyyyyy do we have to wait another year?
Kevin Hart had a great weekend. So he decided to give the world with… his dance moves. I appreciate it. I laughed. His facial expressions crack me up. Hard cringe. In a different way from JLo’s serenade at the wedding because he knows it’s cringey. But … still…
And now for my forever finishing move when I’m taking over this spot…
BTS’s Jin posted a shot of his mosquito bite and I feel this, personally. Because I also have reacted like this to bites. One time I got bitten so bad I had to get medical treatment.
Also heads up for the next couple of days – it’s Jungkook’s birthday on September 1 so the celebrations on social media will start tomorrow to account for the time difference with Korea. It’ll be a total JK takeover, guaranteed.
