Harry Styles covers W Magazine, timed to his 30-night sold-out run at Madison Square Garden. A coup, for sure. The styling is fine, whatever – I think he soared pretty high with his Alessandro Michele/Gucci era and it’s hard to come down from that.

Hulu has cancelled Mindy Kaling’s Not Suitable for Work. I’m always reminded how brutal the business is when someone like Mindy, who has a slate of successful TV shows and is essentially a mini studio, loses a show. Same with Shonda Rhimes’s The Residence on Netflix, which I’m still pissed about. Not Suitable for Work was not my favourite and I had written previously how the tone seemed a little off, but this isn’t unusual for a comedy. Go back to the first season of 30 Rock or Parks & Rec and they are completely different shows. Sometimes a show needs room to breathe but apparently not this show. But I would imagine the upside is that writer-producers like Mindy aren’t beholden to a studio anymore – Running Point is in on Netflix and The Sex Lives of College Girls was on Max. So maybe she will shop season two around.

Yesterday, Stephanie wrote about Tracee Ellis Ross’s appearance on Trevor Noah’s podcast, focusing on how the cast of Girlfriends was largely ignored by late night TV bookers, even though the show was a hit. Last week I watched a long clip of the interview and wanted to go back to it – it’s Tracee explaining how she was born in LA, then went to New York with her mom for work, then Paris, and then boarding school in Switzerland. I didn’t know a lot about her young life but this explains so much about her aura. Very glamorous.
