Lainey opened with Tan France today and I’m continuing with his Architectural Digest tour. Yes, that framed portrait is a TV! Placing a TV above the fireplace is hotly debated because some people want to pretend they don’t watch TV or that it’s tacky to have a TV be part of the space.
Tan is not pretending to be above binge watching and as he said, TV is his job and part of his private life. He’s also right – what is the couch pointing out if not a TV? This isn’t a 1920s salon. I’m Team TV and so is Tan.
Bethenny Frankel is currently menacing Vancouver and its surrounding areas, going around to small businesses and giving reviews no one asked for. Anyway, this is about her defending Kyle Richards from Bravo. The issue is over a text sent from Kyle to Dorit Kemsley, her castmate and – at one point – real-life friend. They hadn’t spoken in two months and the night before filming the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Kyle sent Dorit a very long text about their strained friendship and mentioned the show several times, asking her not to bring up their issues in front of the camera. Dorit promptly showed it on camera and, judging by the transcript, turned it over to producers.
Bethenny calls this a violation. I think it’s more show business, baby. Kyle is extremely experienced (I think she might be the longest running Housewife?) and knew there was a high chance this would get turned over, particularly as Dorit has not had a stellar season and is on the chopping block. This helps her storyline. Second, Kyle is one of Andy’s favourites and a Bravo girl through and through. Like Bethenny, she’s an architect of how the game is played and well-versed in the constant manipulation tactics between the cast, the audience and the producers. We are all playing each other.

I’m always going on about the march of time in pop music and how only a few artists can maintain a career and that’s what makes those that do so special. TV moves as fast as music now and there’s a glut of new shows every year, “must watches” and breakout stars. The popularity and subsequent decline in interest in these shows is accelerating. Take Succession – the biggest of big deals. It is now in the rear-view, even though the cast is still winning awards. Jeremy Strong seems to have peaced out completely. And the Ted Lasso crew. Nice to see them but I don’t think anyone was like, waiting for them to show up the same way they are for The Bear or Abbott Elementary crews.
Eva Mendes went all out for her first fashion show for D&G. And this makes me wonder if this relationship has built up because she has a D&G look planned… for the Oscars?
Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney are looking to work together again after the success of Anyone But You. Reteaming used to be standard for rom-com movie stars (like Kate Hudson/Matthew McConaughey and Julia Roberts/Richard Gere). Chemistry can get stronger over time and so can audience affection.
