Dame Cressida Dick, the head of Scotland Yard, and that’s quite a name for London’s top cop, said today that the Metropolitan Police will review the investigation into the rape accusations against Prince Andrew and his friend, the dead rapist pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. It would be the third review and not a formal investigation, although she said they would cooperate with American authorities.
For many years now, Epstein’s victims have been calling on British authorities to delve deeper into the Epstein case, because many of the alleged crimes happened in England. Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who is now suing Prince Andrew, has repeatedly alleged that she was sex-trafficked to Prince Andrew by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Maxwell’s London home. You’ll recall, a couple of months ago, Channel 4 News in the UK did a report on why London’s Met Police have not been investigating Epstein and his associates with legal experts, including Nazir Afzal, OBE, former Chief Crown Prosecutor for NW England, wondering whether or not it’s Prince Andrew’s connection to Epstein and Maxwell, particularly Maxwell, that has been a factor in Scotland Yard’s reticence to pursue the claims.
So when Dame Cressida was on the radio today saying that “no one is above the law”, well, does anyone believe that?
Interestingly, royal insiders are now starting to brief the media on the situation and so far, the unofficial message out of Clarence House is that:
“The future king is among the senior royals who have privately expressed concern over the handling of the Duke of York's latest legal crisis as it emerged it could overshadow the Queen's historic Platinum Jubilee.
A source told The Times: 'The prince loves his brother and has the ability to have sympathy for the slings and arrows that his brother endures, whatever the reasons may be.'
The source added: 'However, this will be unwelcome reputational damage to the institution. He has long ago concluded that it is probably an unsolvable problem.'
The Daily Mail understands that both Charles and Prince William have doubts about the way such serious allegations have been dealt with by Andrew and his legal team.”
There is… so much wrong with this.
Slings and arrows? This is a rape accusation, from a woman – who is just one of many – claiming to have been sex-trafficked by a billionaire. We’re not talking about a theatre critic here who took a personal dislike against a play, we are talking about sexual assault. And these f-cking people are minimising it…and prioritising their precious Jubilee, for f-ck’s sake.
A woman files a lawsuit against Prince Andrew for allegedly raping her – and all they can think about is “OMG the Jubilee! Our parade!”
Well, that tells you everything you need to know about how sh-t works behind palace gates. And how sh-t has always worked. Their main preoccupation is preservation, monarchical preservation. Everything they do goes back to how they can remain royal. How they can continue to uphold their superiority – through crowns and titles and wealth, and right now a woman’s alleged rape is inconveniencing their party. How dare she.
