Dear Gossips,
Designer Lesley Hampton is the 2021 Youth Recipient for the Inspire Awards which will be presented tomorrow on CBC and APTN at 8pm and streaming at the same time for free on the CBC Gem app. Lesley is being recognised for being “a role model to Indigenous youth”, proudly advocating for body positivity, mental health, and authentic representation. She is one of the most talented creatives in Canada today, her work has been getting international attention, and she has new work to showcase now, with the launch of the new Aurora Collection. The pieces are wearable, inclusive, and SO beautiful. Look at this floral jacket dress!
Lesley calls the Aurora an “athluxury collection”, and there are leggings and bras and crops here that are vibrant and cute, and the stripes are so pretty, I’m getting the joggers, and they’re every season, super fresh and a total mood-changer. Also, a percentage of the sales from the Aurora Collection will support the Matriarch Movement, led by Shayla Stonechild, who models the collection. The Matriarch Movement is a “non-profit amplifying Indigenous women’s voices through story, meditation, movement, and medicine”. Follow on Instagram to learn more.
In addition to the Aurora, Lesley is also featuring a Pride Capsule with a rainbow wrap skirt and a cape. They’re spectacular:
Check out Lesley at the Inspire Awards tomorrow night, again on CBC, APTN, and CBC Gem.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
