Normally when there are any photos available of Dev Patel, Sarah is on it so fast to claim them, I never even get a chance to see what she’s even talking about. But this week she’s been super busy with screenings and some other sh-t, which is why, HAHAHA, I get Dev Patel today!
As you would know if you visit here often, when Sarah posts about Dev, there is usually a Bond reference – he is her choice for the next Bond, as unlikely as that will be, because those people have no imagination. But maybe becoming Bond would hold Dev back from even greater things, because his film Monkey Man, in which he co-wrote, directed, and stars in, opens tomorrow and is getting strong reviews. Sarah’s review will be posted tomorrow and now she’s probably choked that I just used these photos from the premiere.
But I’m here to talk about another premiere, I’ll leave the movie conversation to her. The premiere that I’m focusing on is his relationship. Dev walked the carpet with his partner, Tilda Cobham-Hervey and … this is their red carpet debut, right?
They’ve been papped together before (seldomly) and, sure, they posed together while they were promoting Hotel Mumbai back in 2018, but that was work, both of their work. Kinda like Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes whose only red carpet appearance together was at the premiere of The Place Beyond the Pines. Which was work. Monkey Man is Dev’s work, and Tilda’s there to support him, proudly. So this appearance is rare, and therefore notable. Because this is not a new relationship. They met and fell in love on the set of Hotel Mumbai, so it’s been over five years, and they live together now in Australia. But this is the first time they’ve really put themselves on blast like this. And look how sweet they are!
Will this become more common, seeing Dev with Tilda?
Well, it’s a special occasion, it’s his directorial debut. Worthy of their own relationship red carpet debut and a double premiere.
