Following the photocall in which Twigs Ortega stole the show, Jenna Ortega, sans Twigs, glammed up for the BFI London Film Festival’s gala premiere of Klara and the Sun.

Ortega looks stunning, the dress is so good I don’t even mind the unnecessary hat.

The dress is custom Torlowei, for the record. The only way this outfit gets better is if she actually did bring Twigs with her on the red carpet (though that seems stressful for the dog).

While fellow cast members Amy Adams and Natasha Lyonne were also at the premiere, as well as director Taika Waititi and his wife, Rita Ora, the real surprise is that Florence Pugh turned up. She wore a sheer dress, naturally. I usually don’t like sheer dresses—too overdone at this point—but this one is rather good (it’s Rodarte).

The combination of florals and the sculpted shoulders that kind of look like wings give the dress a fae effect. I don’t hate it, which is not usually how I feel about sheer OR Rodarte. As to why Flo was there, who knows. She seemed friendly with actor/producer Rachel Foreman, or maybe she has a part in the film. If she does, it’s been kept well under wraps which probably isn’t serving Klara very well, given that it feels like nobody knows this movie is coming out this month. If Florence Pugh is in the movie, you probably should have mentioned it before now. Spider-Man doesn’t need to trade on Flo’s name, because he’s f-cking Spider-Man, but Klara and the Sun could use the boost, frankly.

The alternative is, of course, that she’s supporting a friend because Klara DOES need the boost, and her presence is sure to generate headlines. You know who else would generate headlines? Twigs. I’m still not sure that bringing dogs to red carpets is the best idea, but Twigs IS a star. People would definitely pay attention to Twigs.
