Twisters opens this week, which is fitting as massive storms have ripped through the Midwest over the last forty-eight hours, and I’ve spent two nights in a row tucked into my closet with my cat as tornado sirens go off in Chicago (a rarity, I assure you).
To promote Twisters, Glen Powell covers the digital edition of Entertainment Weekly along with very good boy Brisket.
Brisket is just the cutest. I love him.
Powell has been utilizing Brisket for maximum effect on this press tour, but it’s not just blatant thirst-trapping—a hot guy and a cute dog is a never-fail recipe—it’s also because he adopted Brisket while working on Twisters in Oklahoma. The substance of his digital feature with EW is about seeing Brisket online, adopting him, and how Brisket became the “mascot” of the Twisters set. He also says of adopting a dog, “I just had the desire to be a father,” which is very Chris Evans of him. Glen Powell’s career is shaping up to be what Chris Evans’s could have been, had he committed to being the biggest movie star in the world (which he didn’t).
I’m also highlighting Glen and Brisket as a reminder to adopt, don’t shop. I’ve been volunteering at a cat rescue for several years now, and if I’ve learned anything, it’s that severe weather means displaced animals, so shelters around the Midwest are likely experiencing high volume right now. If you’re looking for a companion, please consider adopting. You can find resources here, or here if you’re in Canada.
