Cody yesterday covered the rumours about Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney hooking up while filming their rom-com in Australia, and in the process maybe cheating on their respective partners – at least that’s what the internet thinks based on photos from set and social media posts.

The speculation isn’t just happening in niche corners of Twitter either. There’s no way Glen’s girlfriend, Gigi Paris, hasn’t been checking her mentions. Look at the comments under her most recent post:

She’s heard about it. So there’s no doubt that Glen and Sydney have heard about it. And what are they doing about it? Well, last night they were in Vegas for CinemaCon to promote their movie – which now has a title by the way: Anyone But You – and it looks like they know about the rumours…and are leaning allllll the way into them.

The Photo Assumption is across the board the same here, right? You’re reading what I’m reading? They are not keeping physical distance. He is tucking her comfortably into his chest, she’s looking up at him with hearts in her eyes – there is BIG flirt energy happening, these two aren’t just sparking, they are sizzling. So it’s good time to bring up this tweet, for those of us who watched Ghosted with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas …

FACTS!

Nobody got horny watching Chris and Ana. But we’re all already horny looking at pictures of Glen and Sydney – which was Cody’s point yesterday: this is how you sell a rom-com. So is that what’s happening here? Is this all for the sell? Or is it both real and for the sell?

They obviously want to fire up anticipation for the project. But also… they seemed pretty fired up for each other.

In his post yesterday Cody compared Glen and Sydney to Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon a few months ago, promoting their rom-com while maintaining two feet apart – and that resulted in nobody giving a sh-t about their movie, to the point where I can’t even remember the name of it, and it’s my job to know these things.

But actors don’t have to be climbing all over each other to show they have chemistry. Seeing Glen and Sydney at CinemaCon reminds me of when CinemaCon used to be called ShoWest. And back in 2005, everyyyyyyyyone was talking about a movie called Mr and Mrs Smith, starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who showed up at ShoWest like Ashton and Reese…but not like Ashton and Reese because even though they made a point of social distancing, it actually had the opposite effect. People filled in the distance between them with electric bolts. There was no denying what was there. I wonder what we’d be saying today if Glen and Sydney had played it like Brange back then.
