As Jennifer Aniston has said many times, we’ve had a front row seat to her love life for the last 30 years. Not because she’s personally invited us to the show, at least not all of the time, but she’s not lying about the fact that we have been right up in her business since Friends. So while we might not know even a fraction of the truth behind all her romances, we know enough. We know that, for the most part, she’s fallen in love with other famous people, actors and musicians, from Tate Donovan to Brad Pitt to Vince Vaughn to John Mayer to Justin Theroux. While it may be unproductive to say that those relationships failed, perhaps what we could say is that ultimately none of them truly spoke her love language, or at least the language that she’s learned to speak. Until now.

Jennifer Aniston has been dating Jim Curtis for about a year and a half. He’s a hypnotist, life coach, therapist, motivational speaker, and wellness guru – which is totally her vibe. Let’s not pretend Jen isn’t a little woo woo, more than a little woo woo. Yesterday they were both in New York to promote his book, she actually did his Q&A at 92NY, remarkable even if you’ve only been a casual practitioner of Jennifer Aniston gossip because of course she has supported her partners in the past, in the form of red carpet appearances but at a book talk? As the interviewer? Interviewing her boyfriend? Who was dressed in what looks like Columbia and New Balances? This is new.

New but also familiar in that Jen Aniston looks more comfortable than she’s maybe ever looked with a partner. It seems as though he’s fit into her world even though he’s not necessarily of her world but isn’t trying to be in her world and yet doesn’t hate her world. There’s a Travis Kelce to Taylor Swift energy here.

And then, to go back to the woo woo, it’s also what Jim said in an interview the other day that really leans into the love language, and there’s nothing more love language dependent, if you believe in that sort of thing, than how people communicate best when they disagree.

I don’t live here, meditation after a fight is not my love language – but that’s why I’m not married to someone who needs to meditate after a fight. This is the whole point of love languages, it all depends on who you’re speaking it with. Jen Aniston’s love language, clearly, is meditation after an argument. And she went and found someone who literally meditates for a living.

So it’s no wonder she’s out there leveraging her celebrity to help him sell his book, lending out her fame to amplify his work. Again, not unlike Taylor Swift. Jennifer Aniston is just as experienced as Taylor Swift in the management of her influence and in her own way judicious about how she chooses to employ it. Since he became her boyfriend, Jim Curtis has not been out here in these streets trying to quench a desperate thirst. He’s not a regular at TMZ, he’s not panting on the sidelines of every shoot, every carpet. He’s regulated whatever starstruckness he has without diminishing her legitimate status as one of the most well-known stars on the planet. And, as a result, she’s about as unbothered and content as she has ever seemed in a relationship.
