As I just mentioned in the Three Beatles post today, the Gotham Awards are happening tonight in New York where One Battle After Another has the most nominations. I still don’t understand how a studio movie with a reported $200 million budget is playing in this sandbox but we probably shouldn’t pour salt on a money wound, considering it’s projected to lose a lot of money as it did not perform well at the box office. What the studio and the movie want now, then, is the awards. Overshadow the box office figures with all kinds of nominations and potential wins and reframe the narrative for Oscar voters.

There was a screening for OBAA last night and then the team went out for dinner. Leonardo DiCaprio and Teyana Taylor were there with director Paul Thomas Anderson and… a rare sighting of him with his longtime partner, Maya Rudolph. If Maya attends the Gothams tonight with PTA, we’ll see the knowledge gap on TikTok tomorrow, another example of Gen Z “discovering” basic celebrity facts and still somehow claiming to be gossip authorities, lol. There’s a pretty good chance that tomorrow an “I was today year’s old” post will pop up somewhere from someone – or more than one – learning about Maya, PTA, and their four children.

One Battle After Another is up for six Gothams, a record, including best feature. Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro, and Chase Infiniti are also nominated for individual acting awards but nothing for Leo which is kinda sorta considered a snub. He’s probably not bothered though, and he’s there for the team but also, as we know, Leo never misses a party.

As for Teyana, I like how she’s dressed in a fit that her character Perfidia Beverly Hills would wear in the movie. Combat energy from the leather jacket to the cargo pants and the boots. But this is nothing in comparison to how she looked on Thursday at the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. She called it a mop…

… but the price tag is luxury. This is a Moncler x Jil Sander coat, I f-cking love it. And just for funsies I checked online to see how much but it doesn’t look like they’re selling it yet – because this is definitely the marquis piece from the collection (it also comes in red). That said, it’s safe to assume it’s batsh-t expensive since one of the bombers, nowhere near as special as Teyana’s mop, is going for over US$3500.

I haven’t seen many less expensive dupes yet, still too new, but fringe sweaters are everywhere right now, and I’ve worn several over the last few weeks on ETALK.

Simons has one in a dusty rose cardigan – distressed loops that look great over jeans or trousers.

And the Zara version is pretty, with the distressing in the turtleneck and then under the chest for a kind of peplum effect. Under $70 is a great price too.

Here’s the one I ended up keeping and buying, because I love it and it’s brand new but already discounted – the H&M sweater with fringe hangs perfectly and I also wore over a long skirt and a second time over culottes. It’s a perfect holiday party piece.
