There’s a content gap on this site and I need to apologise for it – we don’t talk enough about Megan Park, and I’m sorry, this is such an oversight, especially since I LOVE her movie, My Old Ass, and of course Sterling Point was a hit this summer, which made Megan Park a YA specialist (also see The Fallout), and anyone who treats the genre with such care and respect deserves more respect. Plus, Megan Park is Canadian, an actor and now writer-director who’s been quietly building her own universe of modern female storytelling.

Megan’s next project, Die Alive, is now in production in New York City starring Zoë Kravitz and Riley Keough, who look like they’re having a blast together, and with Megan, on the set. Die Alive is a rom-com about a woman who’s dating an older man and finds out he has a wife and kids and ends up helping to take care of said kids. Since there have been pap shots of Riley pregnant in costume, we can assume that Zoë is the gf and Riley is the wife and reportedly Jamie Dornan has been cast as the boyfriend/husband. But I’m not convinced that the “romance” part of Die Alive has to do with him at all. It would be so much better if the people who end up falling in love, either romantically for friendshiply, are the women.

Multiple studios and streamers were bidding on the project earlier this year, even without the stars attached – that’s how much people want to work with Megan (LuckyChap, Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley’s production company is producing) – and ultimately Apple won out.

Seeing her with her cast yesterday, in a comfortable grey sweater over a pair of well-fit black trousers and Adidas, with a cute little scarf around her neck, I’m reminded of Duana, when she’s directing… because we have talked about What To Wear When You Are Directing: comfort is paramount, obviously, but stylish is a bonus. And considering that Megan is directing two of the more stylish stars in the business, she’s nailing it here with her own costume.

What else happened today…

The Fug Girls are calling Kim Kardashian's latest outfit on the All’s Fair press tour “crackers” and I understand why but… sorry, sorry, sorry, I agree with what Maria said yesterday in her Celebrity Social Media column and I don’t totally hate it. Law is working with her preferred silhouette, her taste, but he’s polished it, which is the job of a stylist. This polka look is very much Kim K coded, and it’s not a disaster, my apologies. I’m a red carpet reporter so my instinct, always, is to defend red carpet reporters – proper ones, and not TikTok people who show up on a red carpet and ask “gay son or thot daughter”, ffs. Liev Schreiber popped off on a proper red carpet reporter, and apparently she was actually repping Apple (!) which streams his new show, Nocturne, because she asked him to describe it in three words. Which may not be the most original red carpet question but it’s pretty standard since, on the red carpet, they don’t give you a lot of time. Anyway, he says he’s apologised now but I really wish Seth Meyers, who I normally love, didn’t indulge him and call the question “weird”. It’s not like this was an airport ambush.
