Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett are promoting Verity, which comes out in early October. Author Colleen Hoover has been promoting it quite enthusiastically on her feed but she hasn’t really been part of any official promo like she was for It Ends With Us. This could be my recency bias, but it seems like they don’t want her attached to the film. The trailer uses the phrase “based on the best-selling novel” and doesn’t mention her name.
Whatever you think of her books, Hoover is recognizable. It’s seems like a purposeful omission.
Sacrifice is a great example of a movie that looks interesting on paper but doesn’t work. Chris Evans plays an arrogant movie star, Anya Taylor-Joy plays a cult leader, the cast is A-list. It premiered at TIFF in 2025 but its only theatrical release was in Italy. Now it’s going to Netflix US and France. Chris Evans, what’s going on there? Flop after flop. Maybe he should try a really good limited series.
Jacob Elordi was spotted with a goatee in an all-black outfit and there’s a lot of “oh it’s Kendall’s influence” chatter in the comments section. I think that both Timothée Chalamet and Jacob Elordi have a section of fans who are misogynistic and infantilizing, blaming the Jenner sisters for everything from Timothée’s Oscar loss to Jacob’s facial hair. No one is tricking these adults into dating.
Vogue World (an event I don’t enjoy following online because it’s always a chaotic mishmash) is slipping in AI ads and sponsorship, which I am not including here but they are on the Vogue grid if you want to see it. Publishers can’t really turn down any advertising revenue right now (OpenAI and Meta glasses are also listed), especially for marquee events like this. Basically they two main advertising options are AI or sports betting, that’s where all the money is coming from.
Channing Tatum has denied that he is behind the burner account bidness_nonya (which has since been deactivated). The account really did not like Harry Styles. Channing follows 8k accounts, which I think is a pretty robust number for a celebrity, and a lot of his fan accounts. So mindless follow or late-night doomscroll outlet? This is a mystery we might never know the answer to.
