Let’s check in on one of pop culture’s more random couples, Taika Waititi and Rita Ora. They’ve been married since 2022, but lately it seems they’re being photographed less than they were earlier in their relationship. Let’s examine the evidence, starting with the most recent photos of Taika at the Chateau Marmont over the weekend with Rachel Forman. This got me wondering about the state of Taika-and-Rita.
Now, Rachel Forman has known Taika Waititi a long time, she appeared in his 2007 directorial debut, Eagle vs Shark. She will also appear in his upcoming film Klara and the Sun, for which she is also a co-producer. So, there’s no immediate reason to assume the worst, these are two longtime friends having a night out. Rita Ora, meanwhile, performed at the Isle of Wight Festival over the weekend. The reality of celebrity couples is that sometimes your jobs take you away from each other.
But I did look up the last time Taika and Rita were seen together. They were in Beverly Hills at the end of February. A week later they visited Lewis Hamilton at the Scuderia Ferrari garage for the Australian Grand Prix.
That was the first weekend of March. It is now the second to last weekend of June, just over three months later. These are just some facts and figures to know. Like I’m not saying anything is going on! Rita is performing during summer festival season, Taika’s got a movie due later this year, one which will almost certainly feature in the fall festival season, he’ll be occupied with finalizing Klara and the Sun right now. (They are also both executive producers on the documentary Jail Time Records, making the festival rounds now.)
They’re busy! I’m not saying there’s cause for concern! I’m just saying I saw photos of Taika Waititi and realized I hadn’t seen him and Rita in a minute, and when I did the math, it’s been over three months since they were photographed together. Lots of perfectly valid reasons for that! But also, these are some numbers to remember.
