Prince Harry was seen with James Corden shooting on a double decker bus reportedly for an upcoming episode of Carpool Karaoke the other day. Harry and James have known each other a long time, and James was invited to Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. So it’s no surprise that James is one of the people Harry’s been connecting with now that he lives in California.
It may, however, be surprising that he’s agreed to be on Carpool Karaoke. Not that he doesn’t know how to have a good time but because he and Meghan have kept such a relatively low profile since moving to LA. And, well, it’s not like he’s a musician. Like… are Harry and James actually going to do a singalong?
As we know though, Harry and Meghan have been judicious about their appearances – when they show up, it’s always in service of something: one of the organisations they support, a particular cause, or to express appreciation for healthcare and frontline workers. Presumably, then, there will be a philanthrophic angle to what Harry will be sharing with James.
That said, there’s also an English angle to it all. Carpool Karaoke began in England, during Red Nose Day, memorably with George Michael. That was… ten years ago this year. In fact, the 10 year anniversary of that moment is in a month – Red Nose Day aired in the UK on March 18, 2011…not too far away from now. Is it possible that this is why Harry and James are hooking up?
To commemorate the ten year anniversary of the segment that made him so famous, that he took with him across the pond – and do it with the English prince who has now also moved across the pond?
