LOLOLOLOLOL
That’s the best way I can describe how I’m feeling right now, how happy Bennifer is making me – no, how happy Jennifer Lopez is making me. And many of you. Because she is trolling us. Since it’s JLo though, I’m calling it troll-glow: Jennifer Lopez is troll-glowing us. And I love her for it. I love that she is so good at this game, she’s been good at this game for decades now, and she’s still showing the kids how it’s done.
If you don’t know what I mean… you must have not seen it on Instagram. Which is fine, because I want to break all this down anyway.
For the last week we’ve been talking about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez giving us the Bennifer sequel. On Monday news broke that they’d spent last week together in Montana, presumably a romantic minibreak before Mother’s Day, just a week after they were first re-connected (at least publicly) when we found out Ben had been visiting her at her LA home. In the days since, we’ve learned – conveniently, ahem – that they’ve been emailing since February and Ben was basically sending her, I dunno, sonnets or some sh-t.
From there, JLo’s been seen in Miami working on a new campaign for Coach and there’s been no word about whether or not Ben joined her but just in case the buzz around their reunion was fading, here’s what she posted last night:
All of my albums are very special to me, but This Is Me…Then is my favorite album I’ve ever done…so far! In honor of my #JLovers helping it re-enter the album charts AGAIN after 19 years…here is a lil #TBT ✨💕 https://t.co/ODNwAMtTqr pic.twitter.com/cJcnQqUG6p

We need to thank this woman!
She knows, she KNOWS that we are all up in our nostalgia feelings about Bennifer – SHE KNOWS. And even though it’s her private life, she is now actively participating! She is SERVING us the nostalgia!
19 years?
What is 19? This is not a thing anyone commemorates. Also, This is Me… Then, the album, came out in November. We’re not even at a legit anniversary, and she’s out here talking about how it’s her “favourite”. Oh really?
Because the obvious here is that this is the album that was the Bennifer era, defined it. The video for “Jenny From The Block” featured Ben. The song “I’m Glad” – which she plays in that clip above – was written about him.
"I glad when I’m making love to you
I’m glad for the way you make me feel”
And THOSE are the lyrics she edited into this piece?
I mean…
Don’t tell me she isn’t having as much fun with this as we are. I’m actually reading this to mean that she’s encouraging us to have *more* fun with it – by downloading her album, putting more money in her pocket.
Sure. I could think of worse ways of spending my money. JLo is leaning in to our nostalgia, trolling our nostalgia, by glowing up her nostalgia, to benefit herself. And …maybe… if we’re running with this…
A little return love letter back to Ben?
Please don’t let this stop. It’s the best thing that’s happened to us in a long time.
